Meet our Director, Dan

Our Director, Dan, plays a pivotal role in the business. Below we have asked him a few questions so you can get to know a little bit more about him.

What is your role at Mathews Comfort?
I have two roles within the Company. Being a shareholder and Director, I am responsible for the strategic vision of the company and delivery of that strategy, working alongside our internal and external teams.

As a Financial Planner, I spend time working with clients of the Company to ensure they receive great Financial Plans, providing confidence to lead their desired lives and remove financial anxiety.

How did you come to work at Mathews Comfort?

By complete chance. I wasn’t entirely happy with further education and realised this wouldn’t be for me. I applied for an apprenticeship scheme back in 1996, at 17 years old, and haven’t looked back.

What is a typical day in the life at Mathews Comfort?
There really isn’t one! My role is so varied that every day brings something different and new. With a teenage son, and a baby due very soon, things are about to become even more varied.

My day always includes client meetings, the work required around those planning sessions, and focusing on ensuring the business continues to grow and develop in line with our objectives.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the buzz of delivering live Financial Plans to our clients. The way our role as Financial Planners can install confidence in people to live meaningful and fulfilled lives, is extremely rewarding. We genuinely can change people’s lives and regularly do, so what is not enjoyable about that?

I don’t think of what I do as a job, that sounds far too boring, it’s a pleasure to come to work in this great profession.

Sum up your job in three words
Inspiring, rewarding, challenging.

Before working at Mathews Comfort, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Unusually, aside from part time jobs whilst in education, I have only ever been in the Financial Planning Profession.

I do remember, with not entirely fond memories, an early morning paper round but looking back I am sure this was important in developing a work ethic.

How would you describe yourself as an individual?
I am driven, have vision, goal-orientated, determined and willing to adapt.
