Pool tournament raises funds for SSNAP.

A pool tournament held at Mathews Comfort’s offices proved very popular, raising over £500 for our designated local charity, SSNAP, with donations still coming in.

A massive thank you to all who took part and attended. Thanks also to those who were unable to attend but still gave generous donations.

Participants paid £20, which covered the entrance fee and buffet meal, and everyone played at least two games in the double elimination tournament. Daniel Weston may well be an excellent lifestyle financial planner, but he seemed to be lacking a bit of touch on the baize, as he lost both his matches! The same can't be said for George Wagerfield's pool skills, as he cleaned up against Damien Morley!

Last year’s winner, Ian Bourton, returned to defend his title, but sadly lost out to this year’s winner Joe Woodruff, who simply outclassed everyone and then very kindly donated his winner’s prize to our chosen charity, SSNAP.

There was also a special guest on the night, in the form of Jay, an amateur arm wrestler, ranked within the UK’s top five, who took on challengers in return for donations to SSNAP. Needless to say, no one even came close to beating him!

The event forms part of Mathews Comfort’s drive to support local charity of choice for the year, SSNAP. Based in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, SSNAP supports sick and premature babies and their families. This involves providing state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise to help save babies’ lives, along with emotional and practical support for families undergoing trauma and upheaval during the early days of their baby’s life.

The pool table is very much a permanent fixture in the new offices, if any of our clients reading this fancy themselves as a bit of a player and would like to challenge Mathews Comfort's elite, please get in touch, we are up for the challenge!

Donations to SSNAP are always welcomed, the Mathews Comfort JustGiving page is still open. To donate, please visit: www.justgiving.com/owner-email/pleasesponsor/vicki-smith19
